The Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, accompanied by the Councillor for Employment and Development of the Alicante City Council, Mari Carmen de España, has presided this afternoon over the business meeting that the president of the non-profit organisation Atlas Network, Matt Warner, has held with the Alicante social agents CEV Alicante, University of Alicante, Ineca, Terciario Avanzado, Jovempa, Aguas de Alicante, CENID, Ellis Foundation, College of Architects, Círculo de Economía, AEPA, Sofftek, Verne Group and Facpyme.

Alicante Futura starts Focus Future, one of the lines of work of the new strategy whose main objective is to consolidate the city as the Mediterranean capital of the technology industry, digital entrepreneurship and the new urban economy, promoting the city as a venue for meetings related to this field.
Mayor Luis Barcala said that Alicante is the ideal place for the exchange of ideas and talent. “We are aware of our assets, values and global projection as a Mediterranean capital, with a government team committed to the future at a time of opportunities for our territory. That is why we are making the greatest budgetary and executive effort in history to achieve this in the company of everyone,” he said.
Barcala affirmed “Alicante Futura demonstrates a total commitment to the transformation and diversification of our economy and to the opportunities of our territory, its talent and our companies and institutions, some of which are represented today at this top-level meeting”.
Matt Warner addressed the modern idea of human dignity, that freedom and respect are necessary in everyday life, and that this idea can also be seen as an economic strategy. Warner told the audience of the important role of the entrepreneur “because they are the ones who explore the existing possibilities and identify the possible benefits that exist”. He also spoke of the important role of the entrepreneur, stressing the importance of the path that leads to it, in other words, the entrepreneurial process, in its broadest and most decentralised form.
The American concluded by recalling the importance of the commitment of entrepreneurs in the process of business evolution “it has to be a constant and continuous path full of coherence and fidelity, making the environment more conducive to success”.
In this regard, Councillor Mari Carmen de España highlighted Alicante’s potential and the added value of its private and entrepreneurial ecosystem “we are dedicating budget and public policies to promote the development of this Mediterranean hub of excellence linked to technology, digital entrepreneurship and the new urban economy. We are committed to generating opportunities, highlighting the talent of Alicante companies, focusing on economic and individual freedom, encouraging public-private partnerships and activating the actors and stakeholders of the city of Alicante”.
“With all these factors together, the Alicante Futura project is created, a dynamic project, a Mediterranean capital of the new urban and digital economy, which will always be surrounded by the best actors and the best national and international experts”, added the councillor.
