The event was attended by the Mayor, the Councillor for Employment and Development and the Rector of the University.
Alicante, 5 May 2022.- Alicante Futura today presented the LAB program and its strategy to the academic community of the University of Alicante (UA). The event, which brought together researchers and representatives of companies and organisations linked to the university’s Science Park, was attended by the Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, the Councillor for Employment and Development, Mari Carmen de España, and the UA Rector, Amparo Navarro.
During the presentation, Barcala explained that the project focuses on highlighting the importance and the need to continue working in a line capable of “enriching and diversifying” the productive model of the territory, as well as continuing to stimulate the emergence and arrival of technological projects capable of driving the evolution of the city’s traditional sectors.
In this sense, the mayor added “there is no doubt that the scope of a comprehensive strategy such as Alicante Futura requires the development of meetings and ambitious initiatives, which have already begun to be carried out, capable of making it visible and highlighting its value, both locally, nationally and even internationally”.
Likewise, during her speech, the Councillor for Employment and Development, Mari Carmen de España, presented the annual program of the LAB Alicante Futura, a space composed of wokshops, bootcamps, conferences, fairs and hackathons. In addition, she also introduced the three specific programs within this LAB, which have already begun to develop with different activities and conferences of success stories:
–Alicante Futura Emprende. Supports and accompanies new initiatives related to technology and digitalisation.
–Alicante Futura Keeptalent. Seeks to promote young talent in the city, facilitating its retention and growth.
–Alicante Futura Kids. Aimed at encouraging training in digitalisation and new technologies in children, thus reinforcing skills in students, educators and families.
“All these programs are being carried out throughout a series of spaces connected and distributed in a balanced way across the different districts of the city called Futura Territories, organised in clusters and hubs that bring together and reflect the strengths of the city”, adds Mari Carmen de España.
Rector Amparo Navarro thanked Alicante Futura for its interest in showing the UA Science Park ecosystem the strengths of the programs of its strategy, thus highlighting “the outstanding and important resources and facilities that Alicante has, creating synergies between the university and Alicante Futura”.
